Custom Tap Tower

We like projects, so we decided to turn a craigslist chest freezer find into a tap tower. The 20 cu foot freezer was tall enough to house 7 corny kegs without adding a collar. A base with casters was added to obtain the desired bar height. A simple shell with white pine and metal roofing was added to dress up the exterior. The tap tower rising from the bar top is built with the same white pine planks from Lowes. Seven taps were installed. Two stout taps, with one serving on nitrogen and the other serving on co2. Four standard Perlicks and one Creamer Perlick faucet fill out the remaining taps. The chest freezer is controlled by a Johnson Digital Thermostat.

The bar top consists of 70+ Black and White photos shot by Shane Hartman from his excursions out west. The idea was to compliment the western theme of our brewery name and be able to tell stories from the west while pouring samples of beer. The Bar top is simply glued to the freezer lid and operates using the existing freezer hinges.
